Board of Director's: Meet the Candidate's

Grant Guetzko

Grant and his wife Tana have been farming for 38 years and have been members of SilverEdge Cooperative for 34 years. Grant and Tana have three children; Greg 22, Garrett 21, and Gabriela 18. The Guetzko’s farming operation consists of 1200 acres of crop ground; rotating corn, beans, hay, and 200 acres of pasture. They also feed 120 beef cows, 500 market beef and 2200 hogs each year. Grant is also a member of REC, Farm Bureau, FS, St. Paul’s Church, the Delaware Country Pork Producers, and Delaware County Cattlemen Association. Grant says “I’ve enjoyed over the past several years being on the Coop board as a director. With the constant growth and positive outlook, the future looks bright for SilverEdge Coop.”

Tim Rathe

Tim has been a SilverEdge board member for the past six years. He graduated from Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo with a major in animal science and a minor in dairy science. Tim farms with his wife of 22 years, Carol. Carol is a teacher at Starmont Schools in Stawberry Point. Together they have 3 children; Brett who lives in San Diego, Blake in Waterloo, and Maranda, a junior at UNI in Cedar Falls. The Rathe’s farm operation consists of growing corn and soybeans and managing a cow/calf heard. Tim also does some custom farm work. He is a prior Farm Bureau board member and states that he loves farming and working with people.

 Alex Keppler

Alex has been a member of SilverEdge for 10 years. He and his wife Brittany farm 350 acres of corn, beans, and alfalfa. They also milk 140 cows and raise finishing steers. Together they have two children; Harper age 3 and Melanie age 1. Alex is also a member of Viafield Coop, Farm Bureau, and REC and previously involved with the Arlington Community Club. Alex says “I am looking forward to being a positive member of the board. I hope to learn more about the inner working of SilverEdge Coop.”

Manure samples will be sent to the lab the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month. They MUST be in approved containers or will not be accepted by SilverEdge. Approved containers can be found at SilverEdge in Edgewood.
